Bloody, but Unbowed

Monday the 28th is supposed to be the last day of our program, learning Unity and C# programming.

Officially.

When did officially every mean anything to me?

We’ve been given a vehicle towards understanding and I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.

While there is a bit of a somber mood around the internship, many of us have found a way to stay in touch and even more may be starting some business adventures together. This program has shown opportunities even for our existing products that I had been previously completely unaware of.

Potentially HUGE opportunities.

Since day one of my return to Hawaii (actually quite a bit before that day!) I had been pushing hard for programming education. I knew I was leaving my pool of coders, and given that nothing in my technical magazines or catalogs actually came from Hawaii, I knew this would be an uphill battle. Through years of pleading with schools and colleges, to offering to pay for programming education myself, I continually had to look to the mainland to get any products out. Working remotely is great. It created REAPER. But sometimes its just easier to have a local team.

Thanks to GameDevHQ, not only will we have a shot at having that local team, but I might just be one of the code jockeys myself!

I have been pretty cynical of plans, policies and endeavors by the various governments and organizations around Hawaii, but this one stands abrupt as something not only sensible for once, but actually visionary. Bringing Hawaii into the 21st century.

I want to thank everyone involved for bringing some serious hope and momentum in these absolutely darkest days of many of our lives! Lets keep in touch and charge forward!
